Xiaomi is working on a new foldable smartphone to succeed the Mix Fold, launched last year.
Now the superprocessor that will be at the controls of the terminal has been revealed, as well as the huge screen that it will integrate and that is practically the size of Apple’s iPad mini.
What we already know about the new Xiaomi folding
It is public knowledge that Xiaomi is developing a new folding smartphone that succeeds its current Mix Fold model. And it is that, apparently, the Chinese brand will “fill” the terminal with strong arguments to conquer this market segment.
Now it has been revealed that the latest Qualcom processor, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, will be at the controls of the terminal. The information comes via the Digital Chat Station leak, which also teases another crucial specification of the model.
According to the well-known leaker, Xiaomi’s new foldable will also be equipped with an eight-inch LTPO screen with a resolution of 2.5K. Apparently, Xiaomi is being quite “generous” in the specifications of its folding, to the point of equipping it with a screen almost the size of Apple’s iPad mini, which boasts an 8.3-inch panel.

It is also known that the terminal will have an updated and redesigned hinge system. No further details are known, but it is likely that more information about this smartphone that promises to revolutionize the successful foldable segment will be revealed in the near future.
Other news also shows that the Chinese manufacturer could also be working on another foldable smartphone called Mix Flip that could hit the market to directly compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3. However, we do not know anything else about this alleged terminal.
In 2022, Xiaomi may launch 12 new smartphones
However, other news related to Xiaomi advances that the brand will be able to launch 12 more new smartphones during this year. The Digital Chat Station leaker discovered several references and some technical specifications of the models that could arrive this year.
According to the well-known leaker, four of the new smartphones are the new Redmi K50 series which has the K50, K50 Pro, K50 Pro Plus and K50 Gaming Edition models. Then, the same source adds that two more new models will be premium terminals for photography. Perhaps the expected Xiaomi 12 Ultra is included in this last category.
Finally, the last six models are reserved for the brand’s next folding smartphones, now known as Mix Fold 2, which is now known to have a huge eight-inch screen and the Xiaomi Mi Mix Flip, which for now is next. being an “unknown” in terms of specifications.
