The OPPO Find N smartphone is the Chinese manufacturer’s latest bet in the foldable smartphone segment. It’s a high-end phone with a format similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3, but apparently without showing a crease in the screen.
Given the growing popularity of foldable smartphones, a segment led by Samsung, we expect sustainable growth in this niche this year thanks to smartphones like this OPPO Find N. But how long will it last?
That was precisely what he youtuber Zach Nelson, who runs the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel, wanted to know. To do this, the content creator subjected OPPO’s new smartphone to its usual cycle of torture and/or resistance tests.
How durable is the OPPO Find N foldable smartphone?
It should be noted, first of all, that this is an expensive phone. Its retail price in Portugal is not known, but it is close to US$1,500 in international markets and is therefore a considerably high investment.
Therefore, it is important to know if the product will survive a few years of use and abuse. Fortunately, the phone survives the various tests carried out with distinction, also proving the durability of the Gorilla Glass Victus that protects it.
That is, the keys in your pocket and other debris like small sand will not be a threat to the screens and structure of your phone. It is important to mention that this same glass covers not only the front of the phone but also its back.
On the other hand, the screen is covered (necessarily) with a mixture of plastic and glass to ensure its ductility. That is, conventional glass cannot be used to allow the screen to bend as needed.
More specifically, the screen is also covered by a protective plastic film that is quite susceptible to marks, just by pressing your fingernail for it.
OPPO’s foldable smartphone proved to be particularly robust
On the other hand, during the bending test, OPPO Find N’s metal frame proved to be durable. With no flaws or signs of breakage and/or structural damage, the phone is well built, as is its hinge called “Bending Hinge”.
The test then goes further and covers the phone with sand. Even when the product is subjected to these infuriating conditions, there is no noticeable damage apart from a few scratches on the screen film.
In short, having survived all stages of the torture test, OPPO Find N proves to be an extremely durable phone. So, despite being the first product of its kind from OPPO, its execution positively surprised us.
