The Meta group (formerly Facebook) has unified the experience of using its platforms and social networks with Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp to be the most popular. Now, the monthly subscription system, which has been available on Facebook since June 2020, is also beginning to reach Instagram, which is still in the testing phase.
The purpose of this new feature is to allow users to financially support their favorite content creators on social media. As Facebook says, subscriptions are meant to “Help content creators and video publishers grow their business.”
The subscription model is also coming soon to Instagram
Dubbed Instagram Subscriptions, the new program will allow, like on the Twitch platform, to support content creators and influencers on a monthly basis with a monetary contribution. According to information released by Adam Mosseri, this will allow a deeper connection between the content creator and his followers.
On the other hand, monthly subscribers will be distributed with exclusive content such as Lives with Subscribers, Subscriber Stories, as well as follower/subscriber stamps. That is, a mixture of elements present on the Patreon platform, as well as on Twitch in order to create a new link between the public and the person in charge of the Instagram account.
The news was recently detailed, on video, by current Instagram head Adam Mosseri, as shown in the video above.
The subscription program is being tested in the United States of America
Currently, the new modality is still in the testing phase with distribution limited to the United States of America. Of course, According to the social network itself, only a few accounts and their respective owners/influencers are already applying the modality.
Namely, we have the accounts: @alanchikinchow, @sedona._, @alizakelly, @kelseylynncook, @elliottnorris, @jordanchiles, @jackjerry, @bunnymichael, @donalleniii, as well as @lonnieiiv.
However, it is expected that this new modality will gradually be available in new markets. However, we do not yet have an official date for its availability also in Europe.
