Qualcomm, Vodafone and Thales teamed up and the result was demonstrated today in the form of the first smartphone with integrated iSIM technology.
If this technology advances, smartphones in the future will be completely different, with better performance and much more memory.
iSIM technology provides better performance and higher memory capacity
The companies Qualcomm, Vodafone and Thales concentrated their efforts and today the result of the alliance was presented that could change smartphones as we know them. All because, the companies revealed the iSIM technology that allows the SIM card to be integrated into the smartphone’s processor, thus eliminating the existence of a dedicated card slot.
But how will this technology change smartphones and how can it be beneficial for users? The answer is simple: this technology allows for better system integration, better smartphone performance, and also the inclusion of a larger memory capacity.
In other words, in the future we will be able to have smartphones without the physical SIM card slot that will be champions in performance and integrate memory capacities never seen before.
Wearables, tablets and laptops among the devices that can use iSIM technology
Another advantage is that iSIM technology can also be applied to laptops, tablets, wearable devices, Virtual Reality platforms and IoT (Internet of Things) devices. This means that all these devices, in addition to smartphones, can integrate more mobile services.
The iSIM technology demonstration was carried out in Samsung’s European laboratories, using the Vodafone network and with a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G equipped with a Snapdragon 888 processor.
No further information was provided on whether the technology will go into production and when it might reach end users.
