If you want to type at the speed of light, the Charachorder is the ultimate device

Would you like to write at full speed? So you need a Charachorder, a new type of typing peripheral that lets you type at speeds never seen before.

The speeds achieved with this device are so fast that Monkeytype, which offers typing challenges and maintains its own scoreboard, flagged a CharaChorder user as a cheat when it got it. a score of 500 words per minute.

It’s an odd-looking device, as the palms of the hands rest on two black divisions from which nine finger-sized joysticks protrude. These 18 joysticks move in all directions and, according to their website, can press all the necessary buttons on a normal keyboard.

CharaChorder switches detect motion in three dimensions, giving users access to more than 300 unique inputs without their fingers breaking contact with the device.

Once a user learns to type, he can reach speeds impossible on a QWERTY keyboard. Most people write around 40 words per minute (PPM), and the most qualified typists achieve more than 100 PPM. The competition typists can reach 200 PPM.

Riley Keen, CEO of CharaChorder, publishes TikToks that reach speeds above 500 PPM.

CharaChorder can type individual letters, but it also has the ability to type with “chords”.

Like shorthand, chord writing allows users to type several letters at once and have a computer program generate a predicted word. Instead of typing hello, a typist with chord combinations H, or, I Y for to produce the word. With practice, it’s much faster

Keen is experimenting with a modified version of the device that he believes might even allow babies to type and communicate in a way similar to the way some babies communicate with sign language.
