Sony is eager to take its PS5 console to another level, more specifically Virtual Reality (VR) and therefore took the opportunity to introduce its new long-talked about VR system that aims to bring a next-generation experience to gamers.

All because with the new PlaySation VR2 (PSVR2) headset and the new PlayStation VR2 Sense controller, gamers will have access to new sensory features and optimized tracking that will provide a fully immersive gaming experience.

Let’s start with the PSVR2 headset which is equipped with two OLED displays (one for each eye), each with a resolution of 2000 x 2040 pixels, which translates to a four-fold increase in quality compared to 1080p output. .

As if that weren’t enough, the PSVR2 will provide a 110-degree field of view, as well as supporting 90Hz and 120Hz refresh rates. Truly immersive sound.

With the new PSVR2 you can even feel the pulse of the character

Sony has already mentioned the presence of sensors in its new VR system and here they are: a motion sensor with six axes (three-axis gyroscope and three-axis accelerometer) and an infrared proximity sensor.
But there’s more: PSVR2 tracks the user via cameras built into the headphones, so every movement the user makes and every direction they look is reflected in the game, without the need for an external camera.

With this system, the player will also experience new sensations within the game. All thanks to a new integrated motor that allows the user to feel, for example, the accelerated pulse of a character or the movement of objects that pass near the character’s head.

Also add eye tracking that detects the movement of the user’s eyes and allows them to interact more with the game. For example, the player looking in a specific direction can create an additional entrance for the character.

PSRV2 Sense Command and Horizon Game Call of the Mountain

The tactile feedback and adaptive triggers of the new PSRV2 Sense also allow players to feel more deeply all their actions in the game. But best of all, Sony promises that the setup of the new system will be quite simple, requiring only one cable to connect to the console.

Unfortunately, the Japanese giant did not provide information on the price or launch of the new virtual system, but left the message that everything it said is “just a taste of things to come.”

To raise expectations a bit more for the new PSRV2, Sony also announced that the Horizon Call of the Mountain game is being developed specifically for this new system and even showed fans a preview of what is to come.
