The PS5 still harbors a few bugs, some of which we definitely thought were behind us. Indeed, the bug that forces the installation of the PS4 versions has returned, despite the release of a patch in February 2021.
Like many consoles before it, the PS5 has suffered a number of bugs since its launch in November 2020. We remember for example the annoying noises caused by the disc player, the bug of the DualSense controller which displays “Battery empty ”for nothing or even these worries around the internal clock of the console.
In February 2021, the manufacturer released a patch to correct a particularly annoying bug reported by many players. Indeed, this bug forced the installation of the PS4 versions of a title, at the same time as that of the PS5 version. If you are not careful, then the game will occupy much more space on the internal memory of your console (since both versions PS4 and PS5 have been installed).

The bug of forced installation of PS4 games resurfaces on PS5
It will then be necessary to go to the options, then to the storage to manually erase the PS4 version of the title in question. Best of all, the installation of the PS4 version occurs every time the player inserts a PS4 game into the Blu-Ray player, even if it is to play the PS5 version. Aware of the inconvenience caused by this bug, Sony had therefore taken care to correct it via a patch.
But as some publications on Reddit, the bug returned to some titles like Death Stranding Director’s Cut, No Man’s Sky, Chivalry 2 or even Nioh. “I downloaded and installed the PS5 version, but everyday my PS5 keeps showing that the PS4 version of Death Stranding is installed (even though I removed it 3 times) or is installing it . Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Because I really don’t want both versions installed ”, tells a user. For the moment, Sony has not officially reacted to the return of this bug. Hopefully, however, a future software update will resolve the problem quickly. We will update this article if the manufacturer communicates about it.
