Jade maker OPPO becomes the first major manufacturer to officially announce its user interface based on Google’s new Android 12. We have, in fact, ColorOS 12 full of news after Google released the final version of this operating system on October 5.
It is, therefore, good news for all users of OPPO smartphones compatible with the update, thus distancing this brand from its main competitors. Even before Samsung’s One UI 4, even before Xiaomi’s MIUI 12.5 or MIUI 13, we now have OPPO’s user interface.
OPPO fakes Xiaomi and Samsung with its ColorOS 12
This Monday (11) is marked by the official presentation of the public beta version of the ColorOS 12 interface for its global users. In fact, it becomes one of the first original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to have its interface already based on Google’s Android 12.
First of all, ColorOS 12 reaches the top of the OPPO Find X3 Pro 5G range in Indonesia and Malaysia. However, OPPO plans to extend it to more models, covering more countries and regions in the coming months.

Android 12 is the first in OPPO Find X3 Pro
OPPO’s interface stands out for being highly customizable, trying (and succeeding in most scenarios) to remain light and very fluid. Now, with Android 12 the manufacturer presents its ColorOS 12 as more inclusive.
This is done, for example, in the smoothest range of icons, animations and information adapted to different languages and an adjustable structure to different phone formats.
The result? If first impressions don’t fail us, we envision a smoother and more harmonious user experience that enables greater productivity. This was, in fact, one of the brand’s priorities in the development of the new version.
Smoother animations, lightweight and highly customizable system
Among the first differences of the new version is the visual aspect. Something that OPPO calls the Quantum Animation Engine, which translates to more than 300 enhanced animations to achieve the most natural-looking animated effects.
For ColorOS 12, OPPO made some progress in solving gaps and intermittencies after long time use of Android system. In particular with regard to anti-fragmentation and smart resource allocation.
Thus, the manufacturer points out a low system aging rate of 2.75% in 3 years, as well as an average of 30% less memory use and 20% less battery consumption.
Privacy and productivity are two of the pillars of ColorOS 12
The Chinese manufacturer has incorporated most of the security and privacy improvements introduced by Google’s Android 12. Among these we highlight the security control panels, as well as the Share nearby location.
We also have the microphone and camera indicators. The latter allow users to control their privacy with clear and visible menus and buttons.
In addition, the functionalities developed by the OPPO team are maintained, such as the Private System, Safe Safe and App Blocking, among others.
More specifically, we can also mention privacy certifications like ePrivacy and ISO27001. In practice, the company implements third-party supervision in the data security area in order to guarantee compliance with the process on a day-to-day basis.
ColorOS 12 arrives from October to OPPO smartphones
OPPO is one of the manufacturers that will update more devices. It is important to note that the previous models are thus the official confirmation of the arrival of this new version of the UI integrating the main improvements of Android 12.
We also see that most mobile devices, especially the mid-range and entry-level ones, will receive the news “from the first half of 2022.”
