YouTube is currently testing a feature that allows you to directly view the most interesting parts of a video. Concretely, the platform displays a graph instead of the progress bar, the highest points of which represent the moments most viewed by users. It is not yet known when it will be rolled out to the general public.
YouTube is constantly looking for innovations to improve its platform. The most recent update also eases the transition between the web and the mobile application when watching a video. This is also the key word for each new service. Faced with competitors like TikTok, which view content with a simple swipe, YouTube must be inventive to stay in the race.
It is therefore natural that the platform is testing several new features. After the automatic detection of products in a video, it’s time to display of the most interesting moments. In an age when users are listening to their podcasts in time-lapse and product placements are flooding content, it can regularly take several minutes of video to get to the heart of the matter.

Concretely, the functionality takes the form ofa graph that replaces the traditional progress bar. The higher the graph, the more users have stopped on that part of the video and watched it multiple times. In other words, it potentially means this is an interesting time. Currently, the feature is available on a small number of PCs and smartphones.
It is not yet known when the latter will be deployed in its final version. It can take a few weeks as well as several months. Indeed, the possibility of downloading videos quickly did not take long to appear, while the automatic subtitling does not seem ready to arrive on the platform yet. And you, do you see any use in this functionality? Tell us in the comments!
