99-Year-Old David Attenborough Breaks Emmy Record; General Hospital Dominates 2025 Awards

The 2025 Daytime Emmy Awards, held on October 17 in Pasadena, California, celebrated the best in daytime television with a historic win and a dominant performance by a long-running drama. Veteran broadcaster Sir David Attenborough made history by becoming the oldest recipient of a Daytime Emmy Award at 99 years old.

Attenborough’s achievement surpassed the previous record set by Dick Van Dyke, who received an Emmy at 98. Attenborough was recognized for his work on “Secret Lives of Orangutans,” a Netflix production.

Known for his extensive eight-decade career as a writer, host, and British journalist, Attenborough was not present to accept his award.

Daytime drama “General Hospital” led the night, securing an impressive seven trophies. The series was the most awarded program at the ceremony.

“General Hospital” earned the prestigious award for Best Daytime Drama Series. The show’s star, Nancy Lee Grahn, received the Best Drama Actress award.

Jonathan Jackson was honored with the Best Supporting Drama Actor award for his performance on “General Hospital.” The series also won for its Daytime Drama Writing team and Best Drama Directing Team.

Other key winners included “Live with Kelly and Mark,” which took home the award for Best Talk Series. Paul Telfer Gendron from “Days of Our Lives” was named Best Drama Actor.

Susan Walters received the award for Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress for her portrayal of Diane Jenkins Abbott on “The Young and the Restless.”
