Kyiv: 95 streets in Kyiv were renamed to get rid of Russian memories.

According to details, Ukraine changed the names of ninety-five streets in the capital, this move was taken to completely get rid of memories of the Russian past.

A campaign to change the names of Russian and Soviet places in the Ukrainian capital is underway, with the mayor of Kyiv announcing the move a day after Ukraine marked 31 years of independence.

Since Russia’s invasion in February of this year, Ukraine has accelerated a process of “derussification,” a campaign to end Moscow’s legacy of centuries of rule.

Mayor Vitaly Klishko wrote on Telegram that the new street names should reflect important historical events of Ukraine, as well as the memory of famous people and heroes, who established the glory of Ukraine and fought for the independence of our state.

Mayor said that this process is not over yet and the campaign will be continued.
