8 month sanction for Toney!

First they cost him the call-up with the English National Team for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, and now the bets could cost him his future at the best moment of his career. Months after an investigation into the English Brentford striker for breaching the FA Betting Regulations was revealed, the FA itself has revealed that “Ivan Toney has been suspended from all football-related activities with immediate effect for eight months, up to and including 16th January 2024, fined £50,000 and warned of his further conduct.”.

The third top scorer in the 2022/2023 Premier League, with 20 goals, just behind Erling Haaland and Harry Kane, could see his career come to a screeching halt. As he adds statement issued by the FA“its sanctions were subsequently imposed by an independent Regulatory Commission after a personal hearing. He is only allowed to return to training with his club for the last four months of his suspension effective September 17, 2023.”.

The Brentford forward, finally accused of 232 breaches of Rule E8 between 2017 and 2021, has a contract with the London team until June 2025 and awaits “the independent Regulatory Commission’s written reasons for these sanctions” to be published and reviewed by the FA. With two days to go before the conclusion of the 2022/2023 Premier League and at the gates of a summer transfer market in which Ivan Toney would be showered with offers, Brentford has a problem.

And it is that, as a result of this news, the set itself Bee has also issued its corresponding statement: “Brentford FC takes note of the decision by an independent Regulatory Commission to impose an eight-month suspension from all football-related activities on Ivan Toney with immediate effect. Ivan was charged with breaching FA Rule E8 and had a personal hearing earlier this week. Brentford FC is currently awaiting the publication of the independent Regulatory Commission’s written reasons. We will review them before considering our next steps.”.
