8 missing after building collapses in France

A four-story building collapsed in Marseille, France. Five injured and eight missing. The eight missing people are believed to be trapped under the rubble. BBC news.

After 12:40 local time on Sunday, the building collapsed due to a sudden loud noise. A few hours after this incident, a nearby building partially collapsed. However, the cause of the explosion is not yet known.

After the collapse, the building caught fire. It took several hours to put out the fire. No one trapped under the building could be rescued due to the fire. Five people living in the building around the building were rescued with injuries.

The mayor of Marseille, Benoit Payan, said the fire had to be brought under control. Fire service personnel are trying to rescue the trapped people alive.
