Domestic Violence Incident Unfolds in Carrasco Bar

A man, accused of domestic violence, took refuge in his home in Carrasco Bar on Monday afternoon, prompting a response from local authorities.

His lawyer, Jorge Barrera, verified the incident with News Agency. Following negotiations, the man was taken to a nearby health center for medical assistance.

The accused had informed a neighbor and friend, who attempted to persuade him to cooperate with the Police, that he would surrender after the evening football match between Nacional and Peñarol.

Police Response and Negotiations

During the evening, units from the Ministry of the Interior and a team of negotiators from the Republican Guard’s GEO group arrived at the scene to persuade the man to end the standoff and surrender.

Circumstances Leading to the Incident

According to information obtained by News Agency, the man’s wife reported him for domestic violence on Saturday, stating that he possessed three firearms at his residence. When the Police arrived to arrest him and confiscate the weapons, the man refused to comply and barricaded himself inside his house.
