64.62% of quotable salaries are below RD$30,000

With regard to the fact that the review of the minimum wages of non-sectorized companies has begun, it is important to know the statistics presented by the Social Security Treasury (TSS) and the reality that these data reflect on the reality of the salary scales in Dominican Republic.

According to the data from the last bulletin published (October 2022), the 36.76% of the contributions in the Dominican Social Security System (SDSS) appear with quoted salaries between RD$15,000 to RD$30,000, followed by 27.86% of the contributions that appear between RD$10,000 to RD$15,000. Only 13.86% with quotable salaries register an amount of more than RD$50,000.

This is the salary reality of the majority of non-sector companies, or at least it is what is reported to the TSS and published in the Statistical Bulletin of the SDSS Contributory Regime of October of last year and which are the most recent data available to the labor market.

At this date, the Dominican Social Security System had a record of 2,228,127 registered workersa total of 2,318,492 contributions and an average salary of RD$29,927.86.

Regarding the ages of contributing workers, 54.34% are between 31 and 55 years old, with an average salary of RD$33,933.06, being the one with the highest participation of all age groups.

By sectors
The largest number of contributing workers are concentrated in the service sectorrepresenting the 81.82% of the total distribution of contributions.

Within this sector, the four subsectors with greater participation They are: public administration (28.55%), commerce (15.53%), other services (13.82%) and Hotels, Bars and Restaurants (6.32%).

The industry sector represents the second sector with the largest grouping, representing 16.17% of the total distribution of contributions. Within this sector, the subsectors with the highest concentration are: manufacturing (12.71%) and construction (3.13%).

Finally, there is the agricultural sector representing only 1.86% of the total distribution of contributions.

The private sector presents 1,596,514 contributions, which represents 68.86% of the total with an average salary of RD$27,241.10.

The public sector appears with 721,978 contributions, which represents the remaining 31.14% with an average salary of RD$36,027.7. Compared to October 2021, an increase of 10.77% is observed. The largest number of contributions from the public sector appear with salaries greater than RD$50,000.
