Curtis Jackson, widely known as 50 Cent, offered new details about his upcoming Netflix docuseries on Sean "Diddy" Combs during an appearance on Good Morning America on Monday, December 1. The four-part project, titled "Sean Combs: The Reckoning," will feature never-before-seen footage of Diddy from the days leading up to his September 2024 arrest.
This footage captures Diddy in New York City, including a tense phone call with his lawyer. Another clip shows him requesting hand sanitizer after interacting with a group of fans.
50 Cent, 50, who is an executive producer, noted that the moments reveal Diddy’s character. He suggested Diddy, 56, might have forgotten he was being recorded during these instances.
Jackson denied that his long-standing feud with Combs was the driving force behind the documentary. He explicitly stated that the project "is not personal."
Director Alexandria Stapleton echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the series goes beyond "salacious details." The documentary includes interviews with two jurors from Diddy’s criminal trial, among other contributors.
Stapleton clarified the production’s intent. "The real goal was to tell a story. Not everyone had to have an accusation to be a part of this project."
50 Cent first announced the documentary’s development in December 2023. This followed a series of sexual abuse lawsuits filed against the Bad Boy Records founder.
Netflix acquired the series nine months later, just days after Diddy’s arrest. He faced charges related to sex trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution, to which he has pleaded innocent.
Jackson affirmed his commitment to authentic storytelling. "I’ve been committed to authentic storytelling for years through G-Unit Film and Television," he stated recently. "I’m grateful to everyone who reached out and trusted us to tell their stories."
He also expressed pride in Stapleton’s direction. "I’m proud of Alexandria Stapleton being the director of this project and bringing this important story to the screen."
The public dispute between 50 Cent and Diddy dates back to the early 2000s. Jackson escalated his criticisms after Cassie sued Diddy in November 2023. The lawsuit alleged rape, trafficking, and physical assault during their decade-long relationship.
Cassie and Diddy reached a $20 million USD settlement less than 24 hours after the suit was filed.

50 Cent defended his vocal criticism of Diddy in a July 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He dismissed notions of "snitching" and "passive snitching."
"I’m not uncomfortable saying what I said because I’ve been saying this s*** for four or five years," 50 Cent explained. "I’ve been telling them, ‘I don’t deal with him. I don’t like the way he moves. This is crazy.’ Nobody else is going to be as comfortable as I am saying it."
Diddy’s criminal case proceeded to trial in May, featuring 34 witnesses. Cassie, who was nine months pregnant at the time, testified about the decade of abuse she allegedly endured.
The trial concluded in July with a split verdict. Diddy was found guilty of transporting for prostitution but acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking through force, fraud, or coercion.
In October, Diddy was sentenced to more than four years in prison. He was recently transferred from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn to the low-security Fort Dix facility in New Jersey.
Juda Engelmayer, Diddy’s spokesperson, addressed the media last month. "His goal is to get home to his family as soon as possible," Engelmayer stated. He added that Diddy aims "to make the best of his time there and be the best version of himself."
"Sean Combs: The Reckoning" will be available globally on Netflix starting Tuesday, December 2.
