The first week of February brings with it several premieres on streaming platforms, with Netflix registering more news.
Outstanding for the Portuguese film 1618, which arrives on HBO Max, and which collected 70 international awards, becoming the most awarded film in the history of the national scene.
1. Dear Edward – Netflix
This 10-episode series is an adaptation of Ann Napolitano’s novel of the same name.
The story revolves around a 12-year-old boy who is the sole survivor of a plane crash that fatally injures his entire family. This drama has its weight, but it was so critically acclaimed internationally that it should at least be on the list of contents to watch.
2. Our World According to Philomena Cunk – Netflix
Diane Morgan plays the role of investigative journalist Philomena Cunk, whose mission is to interview various academic figures and dissect human history to discover the greatest inventions ever conceived by man.

The second season of this successful Amazon Prime series is now available on the platform and promises to be as entertaining as the first.

4. Free Spirit – Netflix
Based on a true story, this movie follows the story of an Australian girl who decides to fulfill her dream.
The headstrong teenager decides that she will be the youngest person to sail around the world alone in a boat. The film was well received by international critics.
5. 1618 – HBO Max
This Portuguese film received no less than 70 international awards and stars Pedro Laginha and Catarina Lacerda.
The story takes place in the year 1618 and follows António Álvares, a merchant and philanthropist, quite reputable in the city of Porto, but who fails to avoid persecution by the Inquisition. His only solution is to devise an escape plan.
