Its epicenter was just 10 kilometers deep, about 108 kilometers northwest of the town La Rioja. Neighboring cities like Famatina and San Francisco del Valle de Catamarca also felt the tremors.

Residents reported landslides and damage to some homes. This was the third earthquake to hit La Rioja that day, following smaller tremors measuring 2.6 and 2.8 magnitude. The latest quake was the strongest, but fortunately, there are no reports of injuries or severe damage.
