The San Francisco 49ers (4-4) traded 2023 second-, third-, and fourth-round draft picks and a 2024 fifth-round pick to the Carolina Panthers to acquire running back Christian McCaffrey and, after a 31-14 win over the Los Angeles Rams (3-4), it appears the trade was a steal.
McCaffrey became the first player to record passing, running and receiving touchdowns in the same game since 2005. The last to achieve those statistics was LaDainian Tomlinson with the San Diego Chargers against the Oakland Raiders.
Since the NFL came together in 1970, only three RBs have had such a series of statistics. In addition to McCaffrey and Tomlinson, Walter Payton he did it in 1979 when the Chicago Bears lost to the Minnesota Vikings.

San Francisco’s defense limited Matthew Stafford to 187 yards and a touchdown. with 22 of 33 shipments completed. Additionally, the LA QB was sacked twice for a 20-yard loss; one by Nick Bosa and one by Fred Warner.
