A 41-year-old man was shot dead in Montevideo’s Villa Española neighborhood on Tuesday morning. He was taken to Pasteur Hospital after being attacked on Leopoldo Alas and Tripoli streets the night before. The victim had multiple gunshot wounds, including to his head.
Investigation Underway
Police are investigating the murder. They say the attacker was a man wearing a hood when he committed the crime. Neighbors heard several shots fired. One neighbor saw the victim lying on the ground, bleeding heavily.
The victim was taken to the hospital by someone in a red car without license plates. The driver didn’t give any information and left.
Police say the victim had a criminal record. The prosecutor in charge, Andrea Naupp, has ordered police to gather evidence from the scene and find witnesses. She also wants them to locate the driver who dropped the victim off at the hospital.
