2GAME Disbands VALORANT Academy Team After VCB Relegation; Players Free Agents

Esports organization 2GAME has ended its VALORANT academy team. This decision comes after the team’s main squad was relegated, a move that impacts player development and team structures within competitive gaming. It shows how specific league rules can change the path for emerging talent.

The academy project was designed only for teams participating in the VALORANT Champions Tour, known as VCT. Once 2GAME’s primary team moved down to the VALORANT Challengers Brazil, or VCB, league, the academy program could not continue. This rule meant the project had to stop. The organization announced this change on Wednesday, September 3.

2GAME shared its feelings about the closure on X, previously known as Twitter. They explained that the academy started with a clear goal: to find new talent and help it grow. The team aimed to strengthen the wider esports scene. The organization spoke of intense months filled with hard work and significant growth. These moments, they said, would always be part of 2GAME’s history.

The organization expressed deep pride in everything they achieved with the academy team. They thanked every player and staff member who contributed to its journey. With the academy now closed, its players are free to seek new opportunities. João “Brinks” Victor, Matheus “DeNaro” Hipólito, Ithallo “forbanz” Paula, Fernando “lucks” Almeida, and Estevão “Askia” Palmeira are all available for other teams to sign.
