26% of Popular’s transactions are made through the mobile app

The Popular App, the financial application for mobile phones of Banco Popular Dominicano, exceeded one million affiliated customers in October, a growth of 52% compared to the same period in 2020.

Only 26% of the bank’s transactions are already carried out through this digital banking channel, quantified in a total of 565,000 operations every day, 23,545 per hour, which reinforces Banco Popular’s digital leadership in the financial services market, the entity explained in a statement.

This preference to carry out banking operations from a mobile phone is a trend observed in Banco Popular customers, experiencing a higher demand for use, as a result of the effects of mobility restrictions due to COVID-19.

In a general sense, 85.5% of the bank’s operations are already carried out electronically through one of the bank’s digital channels; 13% is done manually and 1.5%, through the Subagente Popular network. In the last five years, manual transactions have been cut in half, giving way to electronic ones.

Currently, the app has more than 45 functionalities available to its users, an amount that is estimated to exceed fifty before the end of 2021.
