A fresh futsal season is on the horizon, and the recent draw has set the stage for some intense matchups. Fans are already circling dates on their calendars. This past Wednesday, the much-anticipated schedule for the 2025/2026 regular season was revealed.
The biggest game everyone is talking about won’t wait long. The first Lisbon derby of the futsal year is set for the fifth matchday. Champion Benfica will host Sporting on October 11. This early clash promises fireworks and an immediate test for both teams.
Tough Starts for Title Chasers
Before that big derby, some top teams face tough roads. Sporting de Braga, known as another powerhouse in the sport, has a challenging start. They will host Sporting on the very first matchday. Then, Braga will play at Benfica’s home turf on the second matchday. That’s a demanding opening for any club.
The Portuguese Football Federation organized the draw. It took place at the City of Football. Eleven of the twelve clubs got to pick their spots in the season matrix. This adds an interesting twist to how the schedule shapes up.
Opening Weekend Battles
The season officially kicks off on September 6. The first day is packed with exciting games. The national champions, Benfica, will visit Sporting de Braga. This is a massive opening game, pitting two strong contenders against each other right away. Sporting also starts on the road. They will head to Torres Vedras to face Torreense.
We also have a new face in the main league. Famalicão makes their debut this season. Their first game will be at home, where they will host Caxinas.
