Spanish Songs Turning 15 Years Old in 2024
These Spanish Songs Turn 15 This 2024
As we navigate through our daily lives, it’s not uncommon to stumble upon a music video on YouTube and think it’s from a few years ago, only to realize it’s actually from a long time ago. This phenomenon has helped us compile a list of Spanish songs that are turning 15 years old in 2024.
We Put Songs in Spanish That Were Released 15 Years Ago
We’ve listed a few songs in Spanish that were released 15 years ago, in 2009. These songs were part of albums published that year, as well as music videos released in 2009, even if they belonged to albums released earlier in 2008.
"She is Beautiful" by Natalia LaFourcade
15 years ago, Natalia LaFourcade released this single from her album ‘Hu hu hu’, where she recounted a personal experience that would surprise many of us: when a suitor had to choose between her and another girl and ended up choosing the other.
"Nothing" by Juan Son
More than a decade ago, Juan Son was just starting out as a soloist after having success with Porter, and he did it with his album ‘Mermaid Sashimi’, considered by critics as one of the best experimental pop albums in our country. The single was released from that album, "Nothing", a song accompanied by violins where Juan Son talks about metaphors related to love.
"Dying of Love" by Kudai
Oh, don’t act like that! Surely many heard this song when it was fashionable to paint your eyes with black eyeliner and wearing black gloves that didn’t cover the fingers. And yes, Kudai was one of those bands that defined the first decade of the 2000s. In 2009, the Chilean band released "Morir de Amor", where they made a critique of society on issues such as suicide, but which made a lot of echo because it was the song that supported the ‘Love without violence’ campaign, which sought to prevent violence between couples in Latin America.
"Hands in the Air" by Nelly Furtado
"Manos al Aire" was the first single from ‘Mi Plan’, Nelly Furtado’s fourth studio album, but the first one that the Canadian singer released in Spanish and where she had collaborations with artists such as Juanes, Julieta Venegas, and more. This song specifically talks about loving a person so much that you allow yourself (even if it is to maintain a healthy environment) to be vulnerable to it.
"Nothing" by Zoé
It is currently one of Zoé’s most famous songs, released in 2009 on the album ‘Reptilectric’, but which also became even more popular years later when they made a duet with the Spanish Enrique Bunbury. The video clip released 15 years ago was recorded in the Rincón de Parangueo (or known as the Valley of the Seven Luminaries), located in the Santiago Valley, Guanajuato, where the members of Zoé play while images of a parallel story are interspersed.
"I was Lying" by Miranda!
This song by Miranda! was released in June 2009 as the first single from ‘Miranda is impossible!’, the fourth studio album by the Argentine duo. In this song, Ale Sergi and Juliana Gattas sing about a person who has ended a relationship and follows in the footsteps of their ex (represents us).
"Third Parties Only" by PXNDX
In 2009, the ‘Poetics’ from PXNDX surprised the fans of the band from Monterrey by having a change of sound where José Madero and company were more into rock than punk. Something that many of us noticed in singles like the one "Third Parties Only". PXndx captured in this song a vision of infidelity and it became one of the most popular songs of 15 years ago.
"Deja Vu" by Gustavo Cerati
This song by the great Gustavo Cerati was part of ‘Natural force’, the last album that the Argentine singer released before falling into a coma and it was one of the two singles from the album where Cerati began that short film that he had planned to release through the other singles from the album.
"The Little Things" by JotDog
This song took a second wind on TikTok a few months ago, but it first saw the light of day in 2009 with the video where we saw Maria Barracuda, Jorge Amaro, and Alex Midi in a rather futuristic video (or well, that’s what it seemed to us at the time). The song talks about when you stop seeing someone and separation is imminent, but necessary. A song that perhaps 15 years ago accompanied and helped many in their first romantic disappointments.
