Rajasthan Royals have made a surprising move by including 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi in their lineup against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025’s 36th match. Vaibhav will play as an Impact Player. He becomes the youngest player in IPL history.
Vaibhav’s Rise to Prominence
Vaibhav was picked by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.10 crore at the mega auction, a decision that raised eyebrows. He has already played for India’s Under-19 team and has started playing senior domestic cricket. Vaibhav represents Bihar in domestic cricket, having played 5 first-class matches and 6 List A matches. He has shown promise, scoring 71 in a List A match against Baroda. Vaibhav has also impressed in the Under-19 team, scoring an unbeaten 76 against UAE.
Replacing Sanju Samson
Rajasthan Royals’ regular captain, Sanju Samson, is out due to an injury from the previous match. Riyan Parag is leading the team in his absence, and Vaibhav gets a chance to play. The Royals have expressed their pride in Vaibhav’s abilities, with a tweet praising his hard work. Vaibhav will bat against Lucknow Super Giants.
Keep working hard and keep making us proud, Vaibhav 🩷 pic.twitter.com/nuFh4myKmw
