100 French unicorns in 2030?

Finally, Emmanuel Macron also reiterated his objective of “developing 10 ‘tech’ giants in Europe”, which he had already mentioned a year earlier, wishing to see “10 companies worth 100 billion euros for 2030” emerge on the continent.

283 unicorns in Europe

According to the latest “Titans of Tech” report from the specialist firm GP Bullhound, after years of unbridled growth, the European tech ecosystem exceeded 1,000 billion dollars in cumulative valuation in 2021. It has 283 unicorns (businesses worth over $1 billion) and 17 “decacorns”. France, on the other hand, does not have any “decacorn”, unlike other European countries such as the Netherlands and Sweden. The two most important French unicorns, Doctolib and Back Market, weigh around 5 billion dollars.
