1-Year-Old Boy Dies in Scorching Car in New Mexico

A one-year-old boy lost his life in a devastating incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He was left in a truck by his caregiver.
It happened on a sunny Sunday morning.

The boy’s caregiver, a male relative, forgot him in the vehicle for hours.
Someone found the boy later, but he was unresponsive.
CPR was attempted, but it didn’t work.

Gilbert Gallegos, a police spokesperson, said the temperature inside a closed car can rise quickly, even in a short time.
This can be deadly.
The boy’s family is struggling to cope with the loss.

The police are still investigating the cause of death.
They are waiting for the autopsy results.
Heat is likely a contributing factor.

On that Sunday, the temperature in Albuquerque was around 72°F in the morning and rose to 84°F in the evening.

According to Kids and Car Safety, a non-profit organization, this incident is not isolated.
So far this year, three children in the US have died after being left in hot cars.
On average, nearly 40 children die each year in the US due to being left in hot vehicles.
